Money Moves: Taxes + Investing Before Year-End
When: Thursday, October 22, 6:00–7:30 PM
Where: Edward Jones office of Sarah Coiner, 205 N Central Ave, Staunton
Tickets: Free for VIP members · Discounted for Club members · $25 general admission
Money questions have a way of piling up on the "later" list. This evening is your chance to finally ask them, in a small room, with no judgment and no jargon.
We're bringing two local pros into one conversation. Joa García, an Enrolled Agent and owner of Prism Consulting, covers the tax side. Sarah Coiner, a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones here in Staunton, covers the investing side. Usually you'd have those conversations in two different offices. This time you get both in one room, plus a group of women business owners asking the same questions you are.
What we'll talk about
Year-end tax basics for business owners: key deadlines before December 31, what records to pull together now, and questions worth asking your tax pro before the year closes
Investing basics for business owners: setting goals, how retirement savings options for self-employed people and small business owners generally work, and planning past this quarter
How the two fit together: why it helps to have your tax pro and your financial advisor on the same page
Open Q&A: bring your questions. We'll keep answers general, and you're welcome to follow up one-on-one afterward.
You'll walk away feeling clearer about where you stand, with a short list of questions to take into your next money conversation.
Meet your hosts
Joa García, EA is the owner of Prism Consulting in Staunton and an Enrolled Agent, admitted to practice before the IRS. She's also a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and a co-founder of Valley Women Collab. Her work is all about lining up the people and the numbers so a business can grow in a way that lasts.
Sarah Coiner is a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones in Staunton. She grew up in Vermont and New Hampshire and earned her BFA from Southern Virginia University. Before finance, she was a caregiver and general manager at her family's home health care agency in New Hampshire, where she worked alongside hospice teams. She and her family came home to Staunton after the pandemic. These days you'll find them at the Farmers Market, Gypsy Hill Park, and Art in the Park, and Sarah sings with Staunton Choral and Queen City Acapella.
Bring a friend who has been meaning to get her money stuff sorted. It's always easier together.
